I don't take the "Expert" title lightly. Boats have been my obsession since I was a teenager and I've been serving my Boat Experts apprenticeship for over 20 years. I bought my first tinnie before I even had my first car, and I’ve been hooked ever since. Over the years, I’ve bought boats, sold boats, reviewed and rated them, designed and modified them, and taught owners how to use them. I’ve fished from boats, jumped waves in boats, and I’m pretty sure at least three of my kids were conceived on boats.

 

Simply put, boating isn’t just my passion—it’s my life!

My career in the marine industry reads like a nautical bucket list.

I’ve helmed Australia’s best-selling boating magazine as the Editor of TrailerBoat, steering the publication to set the industry standard for content and testing. Then there’s my stint as Field Editor for Trade-A-Boat Magazine across Australia and New Zealand, where I penned reviews and features with the authority of someone who’s actually gotten their hands wet. And as Senior Boat Tester for the Trader Group, I’ve poked, prodded, and pushed countless boats to their limits, building an encyclopaedic knowledge of what works on the water and what doesn’t.

 

My time as Director of Operations at Whittley Marine had me shaping one of Australia’s leading trailer boat manufacturers from the inside, while my stint as General Manager of Cobalt Boats and Bennington Pontoons Victoria meant handling operations for premium U.S. brands with a level of sophistication that’d make your average yacht club blush.

I’ve been a sales specialist, a strategist, a web designer for marine brands, and even dabbled in special projects with the legendary Haines Hunter and more recently, as a hands on consultant guiding the model development of Revival Boats. Let’s just say, if it floats, I might've had something to do with it.​​

 

The Birth of Boat Experts

Boat Experts was born out of necessity during the Covid lockdowns. With showrooms shuttered and buyers stranded at home, I started guiding people through the boat-buying process remotely. It turned out, buyers loved having someone who actually knew their starboard from their port to cut through the jargon and steer them towards the perfect purchase and dealer's loved the idea of a ready-made qualified deal from a buyer who wasn't even on their radar. Saving time, money, and stress? It’s not rocket science, but it works. It's been a side hustle ever since, but a huge spike in demand from both buyers and dealers looking to bridge the sales gap tipped me over the edge and Boat Experts became official.
